October 2011

October 2011. Here's what happened in October.

October was a busy month full of trips to the farm, preschools, Halloween and Halloween parties. Plus we had Andrew's birthday party in October. Ryan's mom also flew out for a long weekend and joined us for his birthday party.

Bailey is 7 months old and she started crawling!
Bailey started eating more foods like cauliflower
October 9th - she pulled herself up to a kneeling position using the couch and she started waving!
October 22 - Bailey pulled herself up to a standing position using the couch.

Andrew 3 years (1 month) and well on his way to potty training. He started wearing underwear on Oct 15! Yay!

October 12, 2011 -  I come back from cleaning the bathroom and see Andrew is putting away the dishes. I had left the dishwasher open because I was loading them in. they are dirty, but the thought was too sweet to tell him.

Andrew’s new thing is to show us what he has. For example I’ll tell him to get his shoes. He gets them and hides them behind his back and says, “I got something for you”. He’ll do it with most anything we ask him to get. It’s pretty cute.

It was time for Andrew to go to bed and I ran ahead of him to his room. I went in his room and closed the door and I hid behind the door so when he opened the door I could scare him. I heard him coming and I heard his hand on the door knob. Then I heard him in the hallway. I came out to see why he didn’t go in his room. Ryan asked, “where’s Mommy” Andrew said, “In my room” “Oh, go get mommy” He said. “I don’t want Mommy to scare me” TOO CUTE! He knows me too well.

While stopped at a red light, Andrew noticed the guy in the car next to us had his arm resting out the window. “Mommy, that guy’s arm is dirty” “That’s hair on his arm” “You don’t have hair on your arm, you have polka-dots” “Those are freckles honey” (laughing hysterically inside)

October 22, 2011 – The library books have a small card that gets put into a pocket on each book that tells you when the book is due. Andrew loves to collect these cards. I just returned a dozen or so to the library last week.  Today, I read him a book that actually still had this card in the pocket.  Andrew tried to take it out and I told him he didn’t need it because he had a thousand of those cards already. He promptly ran to his stash of cards, counted them and then said, “I only have 21!” I guess 21 doesn’t seem like many compared to 1000.

Oct 24 2011 – Andrew knows that a red light means stop, yellow slow down, and green go. While at a red light, Andrew saw the car next to us make a right turn. He said, “uh oh! That car made a bad choice. The light is red”

Here are a few photos from October.

Remember when I mentioned that Andrew likes to dress Ryan in clothes matching his own? Here are a few more examples.
Andrew likes to spell words using the Scrabble pieces. (Matching outfits)

See the apple, taste the apple, get the apple!

 Fun in the Halloween box!
Poor Andrew is under Bailey. Good thing she doesn't weigh much!

My mom and I made these awesome bumpers for Bailey's crib. She liked to play peek-a-boo with them.

Bailey is wearing one of my dresses from when I was a little girl.

This was her first "Princess Dress". I just love it so much! It's so poofy and sweet! Andrew is holding her hand and notice his BYU tie!!

 He's growing up so fast!
So we play Dance Central on Xbox Kinect and I just wanted to show off my mad skills on the song Poker Face on HARD! (Granted it is the easiest song to dance to, but let's not get technical). And, that isn't even my high score (you can see my high school on the left). You know, since I'm not working, these gold stars (not silver for those who play) represent recognition for a job well done. Thank you stars.
Stoked. 5 Gold stars on I Gotta Feeling (or The Goodnight Song, as Andrew calls it)
This is a common and adorable sight in our house. The kids flock to Ryan as soon as he gets home and he spends a lot of time on the floor playing with them.

Bailey has discovered the block box and loves it! All she does is grab one at a time and throw it out of the box, but it is still fun to watch.

Our friend had an awesome birthday party. Here Ryan is swinging Andrew on the dance floor.

I guess the party was pretty exciting and wore Andrew out.

The End!

Halloween 2011

Halloween was pretty fun since Andrew was so excited to be dressed up as a BYU Cougar! Bailey was a cute little duck. I just couldn't get enough of them! I love Halloween!!

I continue to be amazed with how the simple toys make kids the most happy. Like a witches hat.

 Oh my!

We went to a Halloween party and I dressed up as Elphaba from Wicked. I liked this washed out look. It's kinda creepy.
It took a long time to put that green paint on, and then it came off so easily.

side note, Bailey can pull herself up using the couch)

COSTUMES! My BYU Cougar and my chick-a-dee! Loved their costumes!!!

I love seeing her little legs stick out (and her chubby cheeks stick out too).
We went to a ward Halloween party. I left off the green paint and actually just enjoyed wearing a wig for fun. A lot of people had to do a double take when they saw me.
Ryan dressed up as a banana.

Some of Andrew's friends were also dressed up as Cosmo, the BYU mascot.
 Sleeping chick-a-dee.

 HALLOWEEN NIGHT!
We went trick-or-treating with some friends. There was a BYU theme with 3 Cosmos and 1 BYU cheerleader. Bailey also got a BYU cheerleader outfit, but we were afraid it would be to cold for her so we put her in the oven of a chick outfit. I wish I would have taken a photo of her in it with Andrew in his Cosmo outfit.

 TRICK - OR - TREATING

Andrew seemed to have a good time and he got some awesome candy and treats. I am already getting excited for next year! Happy Halloween!!
