November 2015 - Dyers & Thanksgiving *

On November 20, 2015 my best friend, Rose and her family, came to visit us for Thanksgiving! We were so excited to have them all here for a week! It was a packed house with 8 kids and 4 adults, but we were one cozy family while they were here.

This is my excited face!

Matt had recently graduated with his MBA from UNC so the first night that they were here we sang Happy Graduation to Matt. Instead of cake we put candles in an apple pie, his favorite, and because it was a Costco apple pie, we ate it for 3 days. Congrats Matt on working so hard for your MBA.
Happy Graduation Matt!

We didn't take that many photos, which I'm now wishing we had, but we had a great time and made lots of memories.

While the Dyers were here they rented a huge SUV. All the kids piled in for this great shot. We called it the monster truck.

Taking photos with Rosie...

She didn't know I was taking more...

...hey what are you doing?...

(Rose trying to block the camera, me just laughing hysterically)

Turkey time! Matt and Rose bought a 21 pound turkey and we named her Big Bertha. My job was to defrost her in a bucket in our tub in time to be able to brine her the night before. I would go in and check on Bertha and change her water every 30-90 minutes (or when I remembered). The night before Thanksgiving we made a brine for her to soak in over night. The bucket was pretty heavy with Bertha and water.

Matt and Rosie dumping out Bertha's water.

Because Rosie is the best, she took out Bertha's insides. Matt helped get Bertha ready for the brine. (Those two really did the most work with her.)

It's a success!

Setting up for dinner.

Lily and Bailey.

Lily, Bailey and Uncle Nick.

Uncle Nick is hungry and is trying to eat Bailey's hair! Quick, get him some food!

Marshmallows! Yum!

It wouldn't be Thanksgiving without.....? The answer for me is Nick and Alissa's sweet potatoes. They are more like a sweet potato pie that we can eat for dinner. Delicious!

Look how beautiful it turns out!

Our ward (church) had a pink gnome that would wonder from house to house. His name was Floyd. Get it? Pink Floyd? Anyway, Floyd appeared on our doorstep a couple days before Thanksgiving so he joined the kids for dinner.

The Big kids ready for dinner! The 3 babies were elsewhere and can you see someone hiding behind the counter?

Bailey loved the mashed potatoes!

Megan got her first taste of rice cereal on Thanksgiving!

She caught on pretty fast.

Rosie and I took turns feeding her. I love the faces we are making. Haha.

Then the day came for the Dyers to fly back home. Bailey and I were so sad. We cried for a long time.

Thanks for coming out and visiting with us! We had such a great time with you all. Come back anytime. We love you guys!
