The First of the Firsts

FIRST, FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY

Andrew turned one on September 13. We flew to California to spend some time with our family and celebrate Andrew's birthday. On his actual birthday we were in Fremont with Ryan's family and had a great time.

We made cupcakes instead of a cake. You can see Andrew's cupcake in the back by itself. It had less frosting on it :) We had a jungle theme and it was really fun.

Andrew didn't know what to do with the cupcake...

So I fed it to him...

Then he got the hang of it and crumpled it all up and mashed up the crumbs. Once he realized it was good, he smooshed it into his mouth. He was being really silly and kept tilting his head back and forth.

FIRST TRIP TO THE BEACH

We went to Santa Cruz so Andrew could play in the water and in the sand. It was the perfect day for the beach!

We don't know if he liked playing in the sand, or if he was trying to get rid of it. He kept picking it up and moving it away from him.

These are photos from our trip to Fremont.

We put Andrew to work...

Andrew would push this little wagon up and down the hallway. He loved it and it helped him with his walking skills...
Ryan's parents had this little car that you push around. Andrew liked it and he looked darn cute in it. This is my new favorite photo of us.

We brought our Baby Signing Time with us and as soon as we put it in, Andrew would crawl to the TV, pull himself up and start jumping.

Back At Home...

A few photos from before our trip. Andrew likes to help me organize our pantry...

Andrew got a bike from Ryan's mom for his birthday before we left for California and Andrew was helping me put it together...

FIRST HAIR CUT

It's sad, but his face makes me laugh...
I heard him whining in the other room and found he had gotten stuck...

His own chariot. (Modern version of course)

He seems so old in this photo.

Hope you enjoyed all those photos!!! Happy Birthday Andrew!!! More coming soon!

Playing in the Dirt

About a month or so ago, Andrew wanted to go outside and play. He quickly found the dirt, which happened to be mud because the sprinkler was on. It went back and forth and Andrew got wet until he was completely soaked. We figured he's not going to be playing in dirt forever and took this moment to snap some photos. Enjoy!

I just found out about this awesome give a way. Check out this blog for more details.

The Mom

I just watched a video on my friend's blog and it reminded me of a video I saw a few years ago. Although I wasn't a mom then, I could still appreciate it. I know I haven't said 99% of theses things to Andrew yet, chances are I'll end up saying most of them :)

My Craft Room and Desk

So last week, or maybe the week before, we decided to paint our craft room. I wanted to do a color that would inspire me since that's the room where I'll be working on my cards and crafts. When I lived in Santa Cruz, I would go to the beach and sit on the rocks and look out at the ocean. This is where I would write in my journal or think about important decisions. I decided I wanted something like this in my craft room.

Before

During

After

The colors get darker as you look from the celing to the floor. I tried to do a cloud effect on the top two colors. This picture was taken as we were still working on the room, but I thought it showed the cloud idea the best.

The other project that we had been working on was making a large desk for all my sewing and crafts. We got a 8 x 4 MDF board and I stained it to look like wood since a MDF board has no grain. I thought it turned out pretty well. Ryan put all the legs on and did lots of clear coats. Thanks Ryan!

What will be our next project? Painting the living room? Painting murals on Andrew's walls? Stay tuned to find out!

Photo Update!

Ryan's family came to visit us last month and these are photos from their camera. We had a lot of fun and hope they did too. I just can't believe how fast Andrew is growing up. Yikes.

Enjoy!
A new favorite!

This is his new photo face. When we pull out the camera, he give us this look.

His photo face again.
