December 2011 - Kids update

I didn't seem to record much in their journals this month. I guess December goes by so quickly with all the holiday events. Sorry kiddos.

 Andrew

12-30 – Took Andrew to the doctor because he was complaining of ear pain. Turns out he had a temperature of 101, an ear infection in both ears, post nasal drip, scratches that were infected and other areas of his body that needed medicine. No wonder he was so sad and grumpy! We made a chart with all the medicines he as to take (breathing three times a day, drops three times a day, cream on the infections three times a day etc).

Bailey
·         Bailey stood by herself for 10 seconds without holding on to anything.
·         Bailey got her third bottom tooth
·         Took 2 steps towards me before face planting L
·         Says, “Da da da da”

Both kids needed to go on breathing treatments. I don't wish this upon any child.

Bailey hated it. We would have to hold her arms so she didn't pull the mask away, but then she would just move her head around so it was almost impossible to get the mask near her face. These were the few seconds that she allowed the mask on her face.

Andrew is a good boy and holds the mask on my himself, but he hates it.

So we tried to find things to distract him while he did his treatments. It seemed to help.

I am so glad all this is done!

December 2011 - Part 2

December continues to be busy with Christmas parties. We had a Christmas party for our church and then had our annual Kearns Christmas party here. Lots of planning and preparation went into that party, but it is always so much fun. I am grateful that Ryan continues to "let" me throw the party. We did a "Minute to Win It" themed party this year and I think it was a success!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Miss Bailey. She is a sneaky little girl. She knows what she wants, but has a hard time trying to tell us. She's no fool though. Look at this smirk. She knows more than we think she does.
Andrew loves to play under our desk and has recently recruited another member to his club.

Ryan and Bailey are happy and Andrew is grumpy. Ya, that's pretty common around here.

 Our little Eskimo.

 Our little princess.

PS. If you are notice that we don't post many photos of Andrew, it's because he runs away or turns around when we pull the camera out. We aren't playing favorites :)

December 2011 - Part 1

December is always a busy busy month. We decorate the house for Christmas and have lots of events and parties to go to. It's a great time of year!

Ryan flew to DC the first week of December for business. Bailey went in to the doctor's for her 9 month check up. Here are her stats:

12-8-2012
Weight: 17 lb 3 oz (25%)
Height: 27 1/4 in (50%)
Head: 17 1/2 cm (70%)

Ryan had his company Christmas party at a very nice country club not far from here. It was a lovely evening and we had a lot of fun. Plus I always love a reason to get dressed up.

Love!

They had an area set up for people to take photos. Here are the three photos we took.  They are photos of photos so they aren't as great as the prints that we have. They printed them out for us that night and we were able to take them home in nice photo folders and picture frames.

 The formal.
The ship.

 The Fun. (Love this photo!)

Also in December I went to see Dr. Ben McKee for my shoulder and my back pain. He is a special chiropractor that causes a lot of pain for a few seconds, and then  months of relief. I've had some spots in my back that have been hurting me for, well, I can't remember a time that they didn't hurt. He found the spot that hurt and pushed really really really hard. I felt pain all the way up to the base of my skull. Slowly, the pain lessons until I only feel pressure. He also helped with my headaches. I get nasty borderline migraines about twice a month or more. He did the same work on my neck and my headaches got much better. He also worked on my shoulder and my hip flexors and other parts of my back. It's amazing how much better I feel (now being April). My pain is minor and infrequent. I used to ask Ryan for back rubs daily because it hurt so much. I highly recommend him and his methods. (Sadly, I just found out  he's moving). While he worked on my back I found out he's a member of our church and swam for BYU! How awesome is that! So he knew my shoulder injuries well and was able to help those too. His wife also lived in the same apartment complex as Ryan. It's a small world. (I recommend the method of therapy to anyone! Check out http://www.airrosti.com/ for info).

Here are some photos from the first part of December.
Bailey is 9 months. Andrew is 3 years 3 months.

I didn't realize that Bailey and I matched until we took these photos.

Bailey growling

 Whatcha doing Daddy?
 I can play too!

Our little troublemaker....I guess the cabinet didn't get locked.
She's emptied boxes of tissues faster than you can say...Abracadabra!
 But she's just so cute.

He was eating his corn dog like an ear of corn. Outside first.

Bailey has this really cheesy smile she does. She will copy you if you do it to her. It's pretty funny.

See her teeth? I think there are 3 (or 4) in there.

 The End (for now)

November 2011 - Kids update and Video

I did forget to include updates for the kids for the November post.

Andrew:

Andrew says probably in front of yes or no answers. “Do you want a hotdog for lunch?” “Um, probably yes.”

Andrew always wants to follow the car in front of us. If the car turns and we don’t follow he gets really whiny. “Why aren’t we following that car!” blah. It’s actually really annoying.

11-17-11 -  Andrew didn't know I was watching him while he was playing with Bailey. He was lying on the floor with her and telling her to play with him. Then they both sat up, Andrew put his arm around her and hugged her and said, "You're my friend Bailey"

11-22-11 – Andrew had his first nightmare (that he told me about). It was about a bike that had a happy face on the front and the bike was going backwards by itself. At first I don’t know if Andrew was scared. I asked him who was riding the bike and he said nobody. I asked who was there and Ryan, and Andrew and Bailey and I were there. He said the bike had black wheels and was red with a happy face on front. I stayed in bed with him for a few minutes to try to learn all about his dream. Then we got out to play and he did NOT like seeing his bike (which is also red and black) I told him that this bike can’t go by itself and it doesn’t have a happy face on the front. At one point he had to run into our bathroom to get something and the bike was in our room and he came out screaming. He was really scared! I felt so bad for him (although I was laughing on the inside) but this was obviously a scary dream for him. He woke up from his nap that day scared and told me to close his closet door so the bike doesn’t get him. He made me put his bike in the garage.

Andrew just seems to be growing up. He’s talking so well, counting, reading, doing math. He’s just such a super smart kid. Andrew is also super super stubborn. He is emotional and swings from high to low in a matter of seconds. He has a temper but is also very sweet when he wants to be. He is me. It’s sad how much of myself I see in him (all the negative aspects at least) But he is so smart. Maybe I was smart too :)

 Bailey

·         Can crawl well (when she crawls she lifts her arms up high like she’s reaching for something. She also keeps one knee down and one leg straight when she’s on the tile  - so her knees don’t get cold I think)
·         Can go from crawling to sitting without using anything
·         Can pull herself to standing on furniture and walk around while holding on to it
·         Can walk if holding your hands.
·         Mimics clapping
·         Can cruise around the furniture
·         Can stand for a couple seconds on her own
·         Starting to feed herself
·         I noticed around Nov 23 that Bailey just looks different. I think her eyes are opening up and looking more round and less Asian. I could be wrong though. He is a beautiful little girl and I love to see her grow.
·         She loves to climb up and over things – usually me or Ryan.
·         Started saying “mama” but doesn’t know what it means yet
·         She follows me around like a little duckling! So cute! She will pull herself up on me (or Ryan) and just look up at us with her super cute eyes and of course we have to hold her because it goes against human nature to do otherwise.

There ya go! Now for some videos!

  Bailey crawling.

Bailey feeding herself biscuits.

 Bailey clapping to music.

 Bailey saying, "Mama".

Andrew and Bailey playing with the rockets. Lots of laughter :)

Typical play between Andrew and Bailey. I always worry Bailey will get hurt because Andrew plays a little rough sometimes. I guess it makes her stronger right? She loves when he plays with her.

Ryan drops Bailey on the couch. Now if we say, "One, two, three" while we're holding her over the couch or pillows, she throws herself back on her own. She's going to be our little daredevil!

The End.
